One thing that seemed quite popular in the ’70,s was the cabinets over a peninsula.
In my opinion all they do is block sight lines between dining room and kitchen.
An easy and free fix is to take them down and open up the view.
In my example the cabinets were built in place, so I needed to attack them with a skilsaw.
Then I needed to rebuild the end panel to close the cabinet off, and reinstall one door.
In a lot of cases the cabinets will be separate boxes which just need to be unscrewed from the ceiling.
Below is a before and after shot of my project.
In the after shot, you can see that the remaining end of the cabinet has not been finished off yet.
